There’s just something about travel that seems to stop all health plans – it usually involves a lot of sitting around, breathing in other people’s germs, eating bad food and generally feeling like crap. I’d love to know how celebrities look so polished when they land after a 15 hour flight from LA…what is that about? Anyway, there are a few things you can do to counteract the grubbiness of travelling, and with a few exciting retreats coming up in the next few weeks, i’ll be putting these into practise A LOT.
1. Hand Sanitiser
…because touching a lot of public toilet doors is not okay. Plus, you really don’t want to share that cold of your next door neighbour who is spluttering all over you. If you are after a natural option Dr Bronners has one that is au naturale and smells like lavender (winning).
2. Salad/BYO Veggies
Food options in airports AND on planes is awful – there’s no two ways about it. The best way to keep feeling well is by filling up on nutritious foods – so pack a tuppaware of your favourite salad and throw some boiled eggs into a ziploc bag. No BBQ Pringles for me…thank you.

Take me anywhere, @qantas
3. Healthy Snacks
As above, for when they bring around the salted nuts that are 100 years old. I always pack a handful of unroasted, unsalted almonds, or some homemade bliss balls (like Fit Mixes). Because #hangry and long haul flights don’t go well together
Staying hydrated is half the battle when your travelling. Get stuck into a film and an hour has passed you by without so much as a sip. In the airport (AFTER security!) buy a huge bottle from a newsagent and take it with you. It will save you having to ask for a cup every five minutes that only seem to hold two mouthfuls. Just do it for the stewardess.

I’ve never had the chance to fly in what I can only describe as my dream room (it pretty much beats anyone’s room in reality – let’s be honest) 🤷🏻♀️ I decided to work my butt off this year and set myself a personal goal to fly first class without being sponsored by an airline 🙈 . You can do anything you want to – if you simply set your mind to it… remember to be kind to yourself every once in a while. You deserve it 🤗
For those of us with sensitive tummies, these are a necessity when traveling. When you eat new foods, or veer from your usual routines, they keep your digestive system in good working order. Just make sure you read the labels – no sugar or gluten should be present.
6. Rose Water Spray
All that air conditioning can wreak havoc with your skin, leaving it dry and dull. I personally use Jurlique’s Balancing Mist – a spritz of this will wake you up and make you look fresh-faced, even when you’re not feeling
